Lisa Morales has been living an artful life for more than fifty years. Her creative journey began on the performing side of the arts when, at just three years old, she stepped on stage in a yellow chicken costume—and never looked back. A lifelong dancer, Lisa studied for 25 years, began teaching at 13, graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as a dance major, and went on to perform professionally with Houston Grand Opera, Theatre Under the Stars, and several local dance companies.
After decades of movement, Lisa found a new rhythm in visual art. In 2008, she took her first drawing class and quickly fell in love with the tactile, layered process of collage. She studied at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, where she explored design, color theory, and composition—skills that now inform her richly textured, hand-painted paper collages.
Lisa’s mixed media work is built piece by piece in a slow, meditative process. Each fragment of paper is painted, torn, and placed with intention, often combining over 1,000 pieces in a single composition. Her art celebrates patience, craft, and connection, embodying the same expressive spirit that once guided her through dance.
Based in Houston, Texas, Lisa’s work has been licensed for greeting cards, puzzles, and home décor. Through her art, she continues to tell stories of beauty, movement, and transformation—one piece of paper at a time.
